Gymnastics Programme

Gymnastics is a unique sport involving strength, speed, stamina, skill and suppleness.

All sessions start with a group warm up including pulse raising exercises, stretching and some physical preparation. Gymnasts will then rotate around the apparatus in groups around floor exercise, vault, bars, beam and parallel bars. The session finishes with fitness conditioning and then a cool down involving gentle stretching. An hour passes very quickly!

Griffin Gymnastics is affiliated to British Gymnastics, the UK National Governing Body. Our gymnasts will also need to become members of British Gymnastics and become part of the gymnastics community. Our governing body offers help and support and a framework for training our coaches and for organising competitions. British Gymnastics (british-gymnastics.org)

In addition, each gymnast will have personal objectives set by our coaching team and director. In this way everybody will be involved in their own learning and will have the satisfaction and thrill of learning new skills adapted to their own targets.

Griffin Gymnastics has our own new award scheme which follows on from the now discontinued BG proficiency scheme. The new awards include skills for vault, balance beam, A bars and P bars and incorporate skills of flexibility, upper body strength, speed and power. These are important aspects of gymnastics, other sports and lifelong fitness. In addition there are bronze, silver and gold awards for our more advanced gymnasts, which involve learning routines to challenge and prepare them for competition.
